Book Wrap Up
Sandra: Such a Fun Age - Kiley Read
Lucy: Where The Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens
This coming of age story about survival and resilience captivated me from start to finish. Whilst reading you can’t help but feel sympathetic for the quirky main character and immersing yourself into her story. The novel ultimately depicts the fighting human-spirit and a love story between a girl and the land.
Helen: Circe - Madeline Miller
I adore this book! It re-tells the Greek mythology story of the immortal nymph Circe who Odysseus meets in the Odyssey. Being a fan of Greek mythology and having already enjoyed Miller’s first book The Song Of Achilles I had a feeling I was going to love this book and it didn’t disappoint. Miller’s writing is beautiful and the characters are so real despite their mythic origins. Written from Circe’s viewpoint, her character grows and changes over the course of the book and so does her strength and independence. I didn’t want this book to end.
Alija: The Testaments - Margaret Attwood
Being a big fan of the Handmaids Tale series I was really looking forward to this read, and it didn't disappoint. I found myself grabbing my book on my lunch break, while I waited for a physio appointment, on the bus ride into work... I was hooked! It shares a deeper insight into the world of Gilead and the backstories of the main characters.
